Tony's Build Diary
The car has been a labour of love, I paid a similar price to you £1600 2 yeas ago, I think it had been in storage, and visualy didnt look too bad, it is unregistered and hence requires an SVA test, there was very little on it that would have passed, Brakes, dash etc, it was fitted with a 2.8 Granada engine and an auto box (didnt work too well), I spent best part of a year trying to get the engine low enough to be able to shut the bonnet with an air filter on, I also changed the gear box, fitted a rover MG servo, and a spitfire fuel tank but things just weren't working , So I and a result and bought an EFI 2.0l Sierra with 78,000 miles on it, with history, for £230, I stripped it to a shell, I kept the engine, 5 speed box, loom, servo, brake pipes, fuel pipes, and steering, and sold virtually everything else on ebay, including all the 2.8 stuff. I have a lotus Elise fuel tank in the back, its nice and easy as it has the pump/regulator built in...the rear lights are Hella items and come from a camper/caravan, I have tried to make the front a little more modern, and formed the new headlight surrounds from aluminium, and am using Porsche boxster head lamps, these have indicators and fogs built in, and fit in from behind....I would love to piece together a build diary, I am changing jobs at present but will make a start, I'll be in touch, I have seen a couple of other Excaliburs for sale in kit car magazines, there must be a few out there, the GRP body is top class and very strong... all the best Tony
